Too many marketers jump into social media marketing without fully developing a strategy or plan. They create budgets, strategies, and plans for their other marketing channels, but neglect to do the same for social media.

They fail to put solid numbers around it, so very few utilize social media effectively. Often times marketing managers or marketing executives don’t see an immediate impact, and give up on social media as a marketing tool.

To be successful you have to be able to judge your performance, show business impact and measure results.

Often times in business we hear, ‘What’s my Return on Investment’ (ROI). One question you may want to also ask is, ‘What’s my Return On Conversation’, since social media really is about engagement and the conversations you have.

You may have even heard Return on Time (ROT)…perhaps from some very astute marketing folks here at ASPE-ROI. But with all of the acronyms bouncing around, how do you know what is right for you?

  • Return on Investment (ROI)
  • Return on Conversation (ROC)
  • Return on Time (ROT)

At a very high level, they will show tips and tricks to get you started monitoring your social media marketing under each of these philosophies. They will discuss when one ‘R’ is more appropriate than others, as well as their individual preferred philosophy.
