Topic: “Emotional Intelligence for PMs”

EQ is the acronym for Emotional Intelligence. So not only do we have an IQ (Intelligence Quotient), we also have emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence is not about traditional intelligence. It is about our ability to handle ourselves and others. It is all about our ability to get along with others and build relationships.

The concept of EQ was introduced by Daniel Goleman in 1995. His book (also called Emotional Intelligence), helped us to understand that it is not just technical and analytical abilities that make a successful leader. Yes these are important qualities. But the most successful leaders also have a high degree of emotional intelligence.

Here is the great news; EQ (unlike IQ) can be developed. In this session, you will learn how YOU can grow your emotional intelligence right now!

Speaker: Margaret Meloni (LinkedIn profile) spent over 18 years in Corporate America observing how individuals who learned to cope with conflict succeeded and recognized their full potential, while others became road blocked.

Margaret acted on her vision by founding Meloni Coaching Solutions, Inc. As a former Information Technology Executive, Margaret always knew her preference was for the people behind the technology. Now Margaret brings those beliefs to individuals from many professional backgrounds.

Presented by the Corporate Education Group (REP 1011)
Duration: 1 Hour Credits: 1 Category A PDU Free Course ID: MDW1268

Meetings are nothing more than a tool to get results.

A successfully facilitated meeting helps to achieve and exceed project goals, by improving issues resolution, decision making, and risk management. Facilitation is an art and science that consists of a set of skills that can be learned.

Successful facilitators can recognize and balance the needs of the meeting, the individuals, and the team.

This webinar discusses typical challenging behaviors of individuals and groups and associates them with various animal metaphors. We will review a few facilitation strategies for key challenging behaviors.

We’ve all been in meetings with the “wise old owl” who philosophizes at great length. And we all know what it feels like when there is an “elephant in the room.” The images may be simple to grasp, but this is not a basic meeting management webinar.

Learning objectives include:

  • What are the fundamentals of facilitation?
  • A perspective shift and tool to use meetings as a tool
  • Overview of the top individual challenging meeting behaviors
  • Strategies for dealing with some challenging behaviors
