Building Bridges To the Future

Live Webinar December 1, 12:00 – 12:30 pm EST
Offered by PmCentersUSA (REP 1016)
Duration 30 Min Credits: 0.5 PDU or 0.5 CDU Cat A – Free PDU

Implementing a standard methodology for business analysis and project management is the ‘suspension bridge’ to successful projects.

Procedures are equivalent to the bridge towers:

  1. The guidelines on how to do the work of the project; they are the foundation supporting the bridge.
  2. The bridge deck is the project process, which is the road to successful projects once the bridge is crossed.
  3. The templates and forms are the suspender cables holding up the project process.

A suspension bridge, and successful projects, only works if all elements are in place! This webinar is based on work done by the presenter implementing business analysis and project management methodology at many major companies.

This presentation will discuss the lessons learned in implementing a methodology, along with best practices including training of project personnel, typical challenges encountered during implementation and some of the initial benefits normally achieved.

Some bridges do fail, and this webinar will end with specific examples of what can happen that leads to an incomplete (and unusable) bridge, or a bridge that is not maintained and quickly fails.

Live Webinar – November 29, 2011 2:00 pm -2:30 pm EST
Presenter: Journyx Inc.
Duration: 1 Hour 1 Category B PDU – Free PDU

This webinar covers the fundamentals of Federal Contract Cost Accounting as it applies to QuickBooks.

Journyx demonstrates how QuickBooks should be configured to accommodate these cost principles so as to pass a DCAA Accounting System Review.

This webinar goes beyond the limits of QuickBooks, however, because QuickBooks by itself cannot handle some of the required elements necessary for a compliant system. Consequently, we will discuss policies and procedures related to topics such as indirect cost allocation, time keeping, and allowability of costs.

We will also show alternative ways how indirect rates can be computed and indirect costs can be allocated to final cost objectives, using add-on systems.

Topics covered in this webinar include:

  • Organizing the Chart of Accounts into Cost Pools
  • Job Costing
  • Timekeeping and Labor Distribution
  • Computing Indirect Rates and Indirect Cost Allocations
  • Fully Loaded Job Cost Reporting
  • Managing Unallowable Costs

Presenter: Sarah Glass, President, AimSourcing, Inc. – AimSourcing offers over 25 years of experience in outsourced accounting and information management services. They provide consulting and outsourcing services in all areas of accounting, HR, tax, and information systems and specialize in project accounting systems and federal government contracting.
