The world is currently running out of IP addresses. On April 15th 2011 some parts of the world have run out of allocatable IPv4 (IP internet) addresses. IPv6 is the replacement protocol to allow for a wider selection of accessible IP addresses. The deployment of IPv6 is the only available solution to the IPv4 address shortage. Any project involving network or internet infrastructure must deal with this issue. This is a major change to the protocol and as such requires significant transitional planning.

We have been hearing about IPv6 for many years now and all the scare stories about running out of IP addresses and the internet grinding to a halt. Sensational stories always make good copy for newspapers and magazines however they often hide some of the real issues.

The internet and the services we use it for is now full of compromises, it has grown at a rate nobody could predict. We could do so much more, but we are having to work within an infrastructure that is starting to show the strain. If they are not capable of meeting the demands of the user everything gets dragged down to their restricted capabilities.

This is where we are now with networking. We have avoided the issues for a long time, the time has come to start addressing them.

In this webinar, speaker John Berry aims to provide an independent, unbiased assessment of where we are today and what we have to do. No scare stories, just the facts.

The webinar will include the following elements:

  • What is IPv6 and why do we need to know?
  • How does it work?
  • How do we migrate from IPv4?
  • What are the real reasons behind the change?
  • What are the downsides if we do nothing?

Developing for SharePoint can be very powerful. However, depending on what you are trying to accomplish, there are multiple tools that can be used. Typical SharePoint development is performed using Microsoft’s .NET platform and can be coded in either C# or VB.NET in the Visual Studio 2010 IDE.

But did you know that there is an easier way?

SharePoint Designer 2010 is the latest version of SharePoint Designer and has been rewritten from the ground up. Developers wishing to customize their SharePoint platform can utilize SharePoint Designer 2010 without needing to code at all.

Using a WYSIWYG editor can easily modify SharePoint Workflows, all of the look and feel elements of your site, and your navigation. You also have the ability to customize web parts, web part views, and even work with external data such as SOAP web services, XML files, and external database connections.

In this web seminar, Mark will discuss the different scenarios for SharePoint development and which tool is best suited for which scenario. We will cover the capabilities and feature sets of each tool and why, in many cases, using SharePoint Designer is a much easier and more efficient choice for customizing SharePoint Server 2010.

Presenter: Mark Weinstein MCT (LinkedIn profile) has more than 25 years in the technology industry, and is a consultant specializing in collaborative technologies, focused upon Microsoft’s Exchange and SharePoint servers. Mark consults on several high-end projects for enterprise companies with thousands of users. His forte is building and teaching courseware that makes hands-on material practical and usable in a real-world environment, while keeping the general information on the subject easy to retain.
