Listening is one of the critical competencies of leadership.

We as project leaders often presume ourselves as good listeners, and equipped enough to deal with listening requirements that every situation demands.

Most of the time, this is not the case, with our weak listening skills we as project leaders often expose ourselves and overall project success to the risk of failure.

In this webinar, Syed Moiz (LinkedIn profile) will demonstrate the importance of listening by focusing on what it is, why we need it, existing barriers that prevent us from being a good listener and how we can improve the listening skills.

  • Are your Project team resources working on more than one project?
  • Is their workload being managed?
  • Are they over allocated?

For a project to be successful (and to keep resources happy) the team’s workload should be managed so individuals are not “over allocated” or assigned more work than they can perform in a given period of time.

In this webcast Ray Lathem will share the top 5 ways in creating and maintaining this balance.

Ray will show you how this is done in Microsoft Project Online/Project Server and how the tool can enable you to better manage your resources.

Learn How To:

  • Request resources be available for the expected timeframes of your project
  • Gather information on resource availability and what other projects resources may conflict with yours
  • Ensure all project managers are scheduling work with allocation in mind not just the duration of tasks. Gather hour or % of effort per task when planning.
  • “Level” resources so they are evenly distributed across your project as well as other projects
  • Communicate effectively!

Presenter:  Ray Lathem has over 20 years of IT experience and has worked with Project Server since 2003. With a background as a developer, Ray has a passion for SSRS reporting. Ray holds several certifications in Project Server 2010 and 2013 and is an MCP.

Live Webinar – October 19th 2016 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM BT
Activity Type: Education – Course or Training  1 Hour  1 PDU
Provider: Association for Project Management – APM

This webinar provides an overview of the
Crossrail Performance Assurance framework.

This topic area is relevant to any project developing supply-chain performance measurement/management models, as well as innovation or knowledge sharing initiatives.

The sixth webinar in the Crossrail Programme Controls series covers the key challenges Crossrail and its stakeholders faced in creating a mechanism for assuring that Tier 1 contractors were collectively performing at a level that would enable the programme’s objectives to be met.

The Objectives:

  • Safely delivering a world-class railway on time,
    • Within funding,
    • Setting new standards for major project delivery and
    • Leaving a legacy of improved supply-chain performance within the UK infrastructure sector

There was a desire to operate a lean client team and also a recognition that Crossrail had to enable the supply-chain to perform if they were to be successful in achieving the programme’s desired outcomes.

Turner & Townsend led the collaborative development and implementation of the Crossrail Performance Assurance Framework.

Based on six core areas aligned to corporate objectives:

  1. Commercial;
  2. Health & Safety;
  3. Quality (including technical compliance);
  4. Environment;
  5. Community Relations; and
  6. Social Sustainability.

The approach enabled the targeted sharing of knowledge and innovation to support supply-chain capability improvement and drove a 54% increase in performance levels over a three year period, and resulted in 14 out of 17 assessed contracts operating over-and-above the requirements of the contract as of August 2015.

Eight critical success factors were identified which will be discussed in this webinar.
