Data Privacy:
Two little words – Many meanings – Huge consequences!

For those companies who do business in Europe, the recently passed EU General Data Protection Regulation has major implications regarding the handling and protection of data.

There are significant penalties associated with the mishandling of data, including data breaches which unfortunately have become a daily headline.

In the United States, the picture can be even more confusing – There is no overriding national law which covers data privacy.

In the US companies need to be aware of the Federal Trade Commission Act, the Financial Services Modernization Act, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and other federal regulations. And this doesn’t even include regulations issued by any of the 50 states.

This is not an issue that is relegated to lawyers.

IT Asset Managers have a crucial role to play in insuring that company and customer data is handled properly, is well protected, and the risk to the enterprise is minimized.

APMG   will explore the nexus of data privacy and IT asset management. The guest speaker for this webinar is Ann LaFrance.

Presenter: Ann LaFrance. Partner  London office of Squire Patton Boggs, & an In demand Keynote speakewhere she co-chairs the Firm’s global Data Privacy and Cyber Security Group and leads the EMEA Communications Law Practice. and in demand Keynote speaker Ann has 30+ years experience advising clients on policy, regulatory and compliance matters affecting the ICT sector, including data protection, privacy and cybersecurity.
