So, should you build your own data quality solution,
Or buy one from a third party?

Online Webinar – Recorded At Infoshare 2014
Activity Type: Education – Online or Digital Media 0.5 PDU – Free
Provider: The Lazy Project Manager

What Is Productive Laziness?

Progress isn’t made by early risers. It’s made by lazy men trying to find easier ways to do something.’ Robert Heinlein (1907 – 1988)

By advocating being a ‘lazy’ project manager Peter does not intend that we should all do absolutely nothing.

Peter is not saying we should all sit around drinking coffee, reading a good book and engaging in idle gossip whilst watching the project hours go by and the non-delivered project milestones disappear over the horizon. That would obviously be plain stupid and would result in an extremely short career in project management, in fact probably a very short career full stop!

Lazy Does Not Mean “Stupid”

Peter just means that we should all adopt a more focused approach to project management and to exercise our efforts where it really matters, rather than rushing around like busy, busy bees involving ourselves in unimportant, non-critical activities that others can better address, or indeed that do not need addressing at all in some cases.

Each year, PMI’s ‘Pulse of the Profession” Reports describe the money lost because of failed projects. In 2016, for example, it showed $122 million was lost for every $1 billion spent – a large number.

In a previous webinar Dr Levin spoke about the program and project manager’s leadership role to reverse this trend. (Click for info and to register 1 PDU).

This webinar goes further and focuses on a solution – one that requires a major culture change with guidelines on its implementation.

Whether one works in a silo-driven or project-oriented organization, or is a coordinator or a full-time manager, there are many obstacles to overcome.

The key is an integrated approach – no longer can the business development staff work in isolation without active involvement from the start by program and project managers.

Further, knowledge management or knowledge transfer cannot be an afterthought for it to be successful, and it must be incorporated from the beginning.

The webinar concludes with guidelines to implement this approach in your organization. Making these changes is the way to help overcome these dismal statistics and show progress as we do so.

Presenter: Dr. Ginger Levin PMP, PgMP, OPM3 Certified (LinkedIn profile) Portfolio, Program, and Project Management Consultant, SKEMA University, Lille, France, University of Wisconsin-Platteville. Dr. Levin’s experience spans over 49 years working in portfolio, program, and project management. She as a member of the PMI’s® Registered Consulting Program and the winner of the PMI’s ®2014 Eric Jennet Project Management Excellence Award. A visionary in establishing and enhancing functions of PMOs; Dr. Levin establishes metrics systems for organizations; and serves as a mentor to numerous individuals and organizations.

Dr. Levin has worked in the maturity assessment field since the early 1990s in the CMM-SW, the CMMI and Project Framework, in 1999. She helped lead the Business Development CMM and SAP’s KMM and assessment methodologies, developing Portfolio Framework and Program Framework Maturity Models.

My Story @EdmontonPm – In 1982 I read Tom Peters “In Search of Excellence: Lessons from America’s Best-Run Companies” and since then I have been on my personal search for amazing companies.

In the early 1990’s my search led me to understand the power of servant leadership and the ability to realize the incredible potential  in the individuals on my teams.

In the meantime I watched so many new hires  in organizations go from engaged, positive, creative and productive to disenchanted, and frustrated as they acclimatized to the traditional corporate culture of their new organizations.

I watched as Managers and Boards took no notice of the people and the potential they had within their organizations; and I was disappointed by so many organizations that were not striving for excellence …. but rather leaving their potential and profit on the table.

I knew it could be done – BUT WHO WAS DOING IT???

In 2015 I learned of the  Popeyes Story and how THEY are Daring To Serve!!

Under Cheryl A. Bachelder’s  ( CEO of Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen Inc. LinkedIn profile) “Dare to Serve!” Leadership she has reinvented Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen into one of America’s Best-Run Companies with:

  1. A 30% increase in sales in their average restaurant
  2. Average restaurant operating profit is up 40%
  3. Their market share among “Chicken” restaurants is up 50%
  4. Opened 450 + new restaurants including moving into the Canadian marketplace – All performing very well!
  5. Their stock price has increased from ~$13.00 USD when Cheryl started the turn around  through the Dare to Serve Model to ~$60.00 USD today
  6. And in the process they were daring to succeed, humble about their leadership path and creating Engaged Franchise Owners, Stakeholders, Shareholders, Managers Team Members, Crew & Guests to produce  “Top Notch Relationships” that led to  their great success.

In November of 2016 Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen opened their 1st  Franchise in Western CanadaIn Edmonton – (my home town 🙂 ) with Calgary soon to follow!

To celebrate Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen’s opening in Edmonton: PDU Of The Day is proud to present  again this eye opening professional Development opportunity to help you understand how you can be Brave, Humble and Dare to Serve! in your organization

Dare to Serve!

Servant Leadership At Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen!

How Courage & Service at Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen
Brought Extraordinary Results

2015 Interview Becoming  a Dare to Serve Leader

Becoming a “Dare to Serve” Leader

Webinar Description

Our culture celebrates “The Spotlight Leader.” The leader is on stage – the spotlight is entirely on them – in short, it is all about them.

This leader declares a new vision, has all the answers, and is a high achiever.  We tolerate them being a bit self-absorbed because they are going places that we want to go, and if they are successful, we will be successfulso we think.

We vaguely know there is another kind of leadership – Servant leadership. This kind of leader is known for humility.

They shun the spotlight and listen carefully to the people because they care deeply about the people. They make decisions that serve the people well; they give others credit.

We wonder about these leaders ..
But We Shouldn’t!

Watch Cheryl Bachelder, CEO of Popeyes® Louisiana Kitchen, Inc., in these informative sessions on developing a better leadership strategy!

Cheryl wants to suggest a new idea – If you move yourself out of the spotlight and dare to serve others well, you will deliver superior performance results – and she’s got the experience to prove it!

Watch Cheryl as she talks to Becky Robinson about the ideas that have shaped her own leadership journey, and make up the basis of her groundbreaking book:

Dare to Serve:
How to Drive Superior Results by Serving Others

A Must Read For Every Leader!
