Online Webinar – Recorded October 3rd 2013
Offered by ASPE (REP 2161) 1 Category A PDU – Free PDU
Course ID: WS100313

A business stakeholder has discovered a new business opportunity they want to pursue, or has described a problem that needs to be solved. Projects are born from either of these strategic initiatives, and Business Analysts are assigned to those projects.

Some of the first activities that we perform as BAs are to determine and agree the scope of the project and the solution approach we might take.

Along the way, we need to discover the stakeholders who will be impacted by the solution.

And finally, we need to describe the high-level and mid-level requirements that will help our stakeholders understand the extent of the investment they are about to make.

Join ASPE and Kris Ashton, (LinkedIn profile) of The Center for Requirements Excellence, in this one-hour webinar to explore the elicitation techniques and models that can best help us.

Discover high – and mid-level requirements that describe::

  • The boundaries of the system (project scope)
  • The interfaces of the system
  • Key inputs and outputs
  • Rules that govern the system and its users
  • The processes or use cases contained within the system boundary

Presented by: Michael Charles, PMP / PM Leadership Coach
Duration: 1 hour Webcast Up to 1 Category C PDU – Free PDU

NOTE: This Session may qualify for a Category B PDU – Contact Michael Charles for more Information. There will be Special gifts for those in attendance.

Traditional dimensions of project management such as cost, schedule and performance are necessary but insufficient.

The world is changing at a rapid pace, and the need for leaders is greater than ever before.

We need leaders who can deal with ambiguity, take ownership of the vision, foster collaboration, gain buy-in and motivate the team to achieve the expected outcomes.

Susanne believes that a great project manager is first and foremost able to manage his or her own state of mind and that project management success is as much about managing people as it is about managing tasks, plans and resources. As a result she helps people to look inwards and become a better leader; someone who sets a great personal example, who is excellent at inspiring and focusing the team and who also understands how to liaise with the client and senior stakeholders to deliver that which they really need.

Join Michael Charles for this special interview with Susanne Madsen   to discuss her new book “The Power of Project Leadership: 7 Keys to Help You Transform from Project Manager to Project Leader” and discover the  7 Keys to Help You Transform from Project Manager to Project Leader.

During this interactive session (a repeat of the very well received East of England branch event in June 2014), Jacqui Alexander will share the story of GSKs’ internally developed ADP initiative, which was instigated in 2009 to help GSK execute its strategy brilliantly.

A critical component of ADP is to ‘change how GSK changed’, and in so doing improve organisation ability to effectively manage and implement change in the process.

Jacqui will share how GSK started, scaled up and began to embed the ADP way of working in GSK from 2009 to date; the significant turning points; overall impact on the Business as well as key learnings as a change practitioner. The ADP ways of working are known as the ‘GSK Fundamentals of Delivery’ – a one-page definition of a simple and accessible way of working that teams can learn and apply immediately in their daily work.

What differentiates ADP from most initiatives is that it combines simple approaches drawn from organization development/change management, lean six sigma and project management underpinned by the GSK change framework. The GSK change framework creates a common language and a consistent, structured approach to change in GSK and is complemented by GSK’s six core principles for accelerating change – the first of which is that ‘all change starts with self’.

GSK has discovered that applying the approaches of project management, lean six sigma and organisation development/change management together delivers greater effectiveness and efficiency in an engaging way, which in turn results in improved capability and results.

Jacqui looks forward to sharing her story, drawing out and learning from your experience and sparking new thinking that could further our collective practice.

Presenter: Jacqui Alexander, (LinkedIn profile) Vice President, Accelerating Delivery & Performance (ADP), Talent, Leadership & OD Centre of Excellence (TL&OD), GSK Jacqui has extensive international experience in business transformation, organization development, consultancy and coaching; she is passionate about organization and people transformation that delivers outstanding personal and business results.
