Have you ever heardor said the phrase, “I have all of the responsibility but none of the authority”?

Without the proper authority it is difficult to bear the responsibility for a project. Yet this is what we are asked to do many times.

  • How do we exercise project authority when it hasn’t been specifically granted or stated?
  • Is authority something that is given or something that is earned?
  • How do others respond to our authority?

As a Project Manager we are responsible for our projects. By virtue of that responsibility we can assume the authority we need for our projects.

In this session we will explore various ways to assume authority on a project and how to exercise this authority.

Topics:

  • Taking Responsibility – Understanding your role
  • Core Values – Making project decisions based on your core values
  • Principled Leadership – Leading from the front
  • Benevolent Dictatorship – Be kind with your team and bold with your decisions
  • Moving Forward – Exercising authority in your areas of responsibility
