Live Webinar December 6th, 2011 – 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm EST
Presented by: Human Capital Institute
Webinar Duration: 1 Hour Credits: 1 Category C PDU – Free PDU

The workforce demographic is shifting dramatically. Those infamous Millennials are beginning their first “real” jobs and embarking on career paths. But unfortunately, Gen Y’s increased (some would say unrealistic) expectations of work and reduced sense of company loyalty are resulting in premature and expensive turnover. Recruiting costs continue to climb. The absence of effective onboarding is making both these trends worse.

How can your organization ensure that new hires are engaged from the moment they accept your offer and retained long enough to contribute to the bottom line? An effective onboarding program is a critical investment in this newest pool of talent.

Research has shown that companies can attract and retain Millennials with collaborative and personalized onboarding initiatives. For adolescents raised on Google, texting and iPods, technology is not a ‘nice to have’, but a way of life. This generation expects access to information at the ‘moment of need’ and in formats they fit them.Organizations must create programs and platforms that grab their Gen Y talent’s attention and prepare them to contribute right away. Don’t miss these important webcast takeaways:

  • Discover what sets Millennials apart in the onboarding process and why what worked for you won’t work for them.
  • Create ‘self service’ onboarding experiences that address individual needs and relevant experiences.
  • Learn the components of an effective onboarding program andhow to implement them on technology-driven platforms
  • Uncover hidden resources to help create onboarding processes and content that engages new hires

Presenter:

Todd Hudson (LinkedIn profile) is a knowledge transfer expert whose work experience includes directing complex operations for several large high tech firms. As a hiring manager, he personally onboarded hundreds of new college grads.

In 2004, he founded the Maverick Institute, a think tank for innovation in knowledge transfer, that he still heads today and is creator of the Maverick Lean Learning system, which applies the principles of the Toyota Production System to corporate learning and training. Todd has successfully taught companies of all sizes how to quickly and effectively onboard new hires of all ages.

Live Webinar December 5, 2011 – 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm EST
Presented by: CollabNet
Duration: 1 Hour + 30 min Question Period 1 Category C PDU – Free PDU

Technical debt isn’t listed on your balance sheet, yet it can destroy your business.

Products carry technical debt when they are difficult or risky to change. The Wall Street Journal recently reported that eBay lost its competitive edge due to nine million lines of bad code that cannot be changed easily.

Is your company next? To thrive in the new economy, you’ll need to adapt your products to your evolving understanding of their requirements as you get feedback from the marketplace.

  • Can technical debt be prevented with more enlightened management practices or technical practices?
  • Does Scrum make the situation better or worse?

In this session, long-time developer and recovering software architect Michael James explores recent discoveries about technical debt, and what you can do about them.

Live Webinar December 7, 2011 – 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm EST
Presenter: Brightwork
Duration: 1 Hour 1 Category C PDU – Free PDU

Many organizations struggle to find a proven and repeatable model for project management within their organization.

With project management templates on SharePoint, organizations can quickly and easily establish a project management process while maintaining the flexibility to manage projects of varying size and type. The “one-size-fits-all” approach does not work in project management, making SharePoint templates the perfect solution.

SharePoint templates allow you to meet the various requirements of individual projects in a repeatable, yet flexible way.

Join Brightwork Wednesday December 7th for a webinar in which Éamonn McGuinness (LinkedIn profile) will fully explain and demonstrate a successful and repeatable model for project management in your organization. All attendees will receive a copy of the slide deck and webcast recording.
