Live Webinar – June 20th, 2012 11:00 am – 11:30 am EDT
Duration: 30 min 0.5 Category C PDU – Free PDU
Presenter: Journyx Inc.

The Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program was created thirty years ago to provide small businesses access to federal agency research and development (R&D) projects.

Eleven federal agencies (DoD, HHS, NSF, NASA, DoE, DHS, DoC, USDA, DoEd, EPA, and DoT) provide over $2 billion of grants every year in a competitive proposal process that funds innovative R&D on projects that support the agency’s mission.

The SBIR is, in fact, the ONLY federal grant program that supports start-up businesses on a merit basis. Only 10% of the applications get funded, so with the intense level of competition to win a proposal, it’s important to carefully consider the necessary steps it takes to get there.

Over the years, thousands of companies have gotten their start with SBIR funding, including such current giants as Qualcomm and Symantec.

This webinar will help you identify whether the SBIR Program is appropriate for your business. We’ll discuss the “When, Why, and How of SBIR Funding” and discuss each of the federal agencies, who provides the funding, and exactly the kind of projects they fund.

Presenter: Fred Patterson, “The SBIR Coach®â€ (LinkedIn profile) Fred worked with the SBIR Program and all of its aspects since its inception. Fred consults nationwide as “The SBIR Coach®â€, and guides many of his entrepreneurial clients in leveraging the SBIR opportunity into company growth and contributing to the innovation economy.
