As users of Microsoft Project, we all want to write high quality schedules. In a high quality schedule, the critical path should be believable.

But how do you know whether your critical path can be trusted?

It turns out that there are many simple checks that can be made to uncover “gremlins” hiding in your schedule that can distort the critical path.

In this engaging presentation, you will learn about several of the gremlins that can interfere with the correct calculation of the critical path. Some of the issues run counter to scheduling best practices (e.g. missing predecessors), and some of the issues run counter to Microsoft Project best practices (e.g. Summary Tasks with Predecessors).

After attending this presentation, you will never look at your Microsoft Project Schedule the same way again!

Presenter: Brian Leach (LinkedIn profile), Schedule Checker and the founder and CEO of Steelray Software. Brian has managed projects for over 20 years and was a key part of the team that developed the world’s first two-way wireless text messaging device, which was later added to the Smithsonian National Museum of American History. Brian is a PMP and has spoken on project management topics at several PMI and NASA conferences as well as MPUG meetings.
