Learn Key Characteristics OfHigh Performing Teams

One of the most important Characteristics of high performance teams is that they learn:

  • from each other,
  • from their leaders,
  • from their customers,
  • from… just about anyone and anything

Learning doesn’t mean that they do everything they learn. Rather, it means that everything they do is informed by what they learn.

In this session, Doc will help you develop a core foundation of understanding about levels of mastery, styles of learning, personality types, and how those are significant contributors to teams moving from just-a-team to a high performing, self-managing team.

Presenter: Doc List (LinkedIn profile, @athought) is an “Agile Enthusiast” and Keynote speaker who inspires Agile PRactices wherever he goes.

Live Webinar – Feb 4th, 2014 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm EDT
Presented by: Eclipse Project Portfolio Management
Duration: 1 hour 1 PDUs Credits: Category C 1 PDU- Free PDU

Project Portfolio Management (PPM) initiatives are expected to provide significant benefit to multiple roles within an organization.

Intuitively, most staff can understand the potential value in the organization, process and technology changes involved with a PPM initiative. However, the lack of change management practices through a PPM initiative’s implementation is one of the most common reasons for their failure. Symptoms of this issue can include poor executive commitment, resistance or political pressure from functional management and compliance issues with project teams.

Eclipse will review common misconceptions about PPM initiative implementations, provide some guiding principles for successful change and detail the steps and key communication messages necessary to gain buy-in from executive and functional management as well as from project teams.

This webinar will also provide tips that can be incorporated into the initiation and planning of your PPM initiative to increase your odds of success.

Who should attend this webinar?
C-Level Management, IT Directors and Managers or Directors of PMOs

Project surprises—be they on government or commercial projects—happen more than most organizations know or are willing to admit.

The financial, opportunity and political costs can be staggering. For example, one in six big IT projects go over-budget by an average of 200%, according to a landmark 2011 study by Oxford University and McKinsey & Company.

The Oxford study found that spending on technology projects was three times more likely to go out of control than construction or other major projects. The study also found that large IT project spending was 20 times more likely to get out of control than organizations expected. Many, if not most, of the projects that “surprisingly” crash and burn are, in fact, predictable surprises: the signs of failure were all around but not acknowledged.

In this webinar, Dr. Robert N. Charette will discuss project surprise, the various costs of surprise, and how they can be reduced by focusing on pro-actively managing the critical risk questions related to a project’s real – win – worth evaluation which is applicable to both government and commercial projects. In addition, Dr. Charette will discuss ways to “surprise proof” your projects.

The webinar’s agenda is as follows:

  • Surprises Can’t Happen to Us – Or Can They?
  • The Destructive Direct and Hidden Costs of Project Surprises
  • Predictable “Surprises”: The Anatomy of a Project Surprise
  • Minimizing Project Surprises: Asking the Three Critical Questions
  • Surprise Proofing Your IT Project and Program Management

Dr. Robert Charette (bio) is the President of the ITABHI Corporation, an international high technology company involved in enterprise and program risk management consulting. He is the author of a number of books on software, systems, and business management including:
