Starting January 21, 2014 in the Discussion area Joyce Burke has been reviewing Robert Damelio’s book “The Basics of Benchmarking”.

The book is a pocket reference for Benchmarking:

  • The Concept of Benchmarking
  • How Benchmarking is used in the workplace
  • How to use Benchmarking to plan for, execute, and gain mutual benefit from an external site visit

The guide is written in a bulleted outline format with sample documents and process flow diagrams, which makes it clear and easy to read, and can act as a future quick reference.

After laying out the groundwork/basics of Benchmarking, the author focuses on methods and tips to get the most out of external inquiries, with minimal use of the external resource’s time.

This is a recommended read for those interested in pursuing best practice.

Presenter: Joyce Burke has 30 years’ experience in banking-related IT projects, and is currently working as a business analyst at M&T Bank, in Buffalo New York. She is a graduate of Binghamton University with a BA in Mathematics, and earned her PMP certification in 2013.
