This webinar is based on Eric Uyttewaal’s new textbook Forecast Scheduling with Microsoft Project 2013 published in January 2018.

Programs have long-range visions, high-visibility, many moving parts, and programs are overwhelming and sometimes destructive (for reputations). Regardless of the challenges in managing programs, Eric believes that programs are inherently not more complex than projects, they are just on a higher level of abstraction.

Furthermore, program stakeholders are smarter and more assertive. Budgets are much larger.

Program managers who try managing a program like a project are doomed to fail: Program management has its own techniques and tools.

So, what are those?

That is what this webinar is about: Eric and his team developed special techniques and special applications specifically for program managers.

These innovations allow program managers to forecast their programs, and take corrective action early.

Program managers do not need to be monthly-messengers-of-bad-news!

With these new innovations, they can gain back control over their program, and, at a minimum, adjust expectations in a more timely fashion, or … turn into monthly‑messengers‑of‑good‑news!

Presenter: Eric Uyttewaal (LinkedIn profile) is Canadian and the author of the bestseller Forecast Scheduling with Microsoft Project 2013  He founded ProjectPro that specializes in Microsoft Project and Project Server. Eric has been involved in large programs at the Canadian Forces, IBM Cognos, Northrop Grumman, SanDisk and Investors Group. He was President of the PMI Ottawa Chapter in 1997. Eric is president of the MPUG-Ottawa chapter and board member again 2016. Eric received awards from MPUG in 2012 (Community leader), from Microsoft since 2010 (MVP) and from PMI in 2009 (‘Significant Contributions to the Scheduling Profession’). Eric is currently the only Microsoft Project MVP in Canada.

The Lean Portfolio Management (LPM) function has the highest level of decision-making and financial accountability for a product driven organization (PDO).

The people who fulfill these responsibilities may have various titles and roles. But this function usually includes the business managers and executives who understand the Enterprise’s financial position and are ultimately responsible for portfolio strategy, operations, and execution.

Of these three primary responsibilities, strategy and investment funding is arguably the most important.

Only by allocating the right investments to building the right things can an enterprise achieve its ultimate business objectives.  This requires the focused and continued attention of LPM.

In this presentation Mike Rodak will describe how to connect your portfolio to enterprise strategy, fund your value streams and establish your portfolio flow with operations to implement the business objectives driving consistency into your solution portfolio.

Presenter:  Mike Rodak (LinkedIn profile) has spent 20+ years leading teams to deliver products across a broad range of industries including high tech, natural sciences and engineering. Mike has worked both in manufacturing and advance research projects; and has been managing portfolios  of electrification technologies and alternative propulsion systems since 2003.  Mike is a partner at Envorso and has received multiple awards for the quality and performance of his product portfolios.

Project management isn’t one-size-fits-all. The methodology that makes sense for your organization depends on the types of projects you perform, how you manage resources, and your corporate culture.

In this session, John Riopel and project management expert Bonnie Biafore author of Microsoft Project 2013: The Missing Manual. describe several of the most popular project management methodologies (such as traditional waterfall and rolling wave, as well as agile ones, such as scrum, lean, or Kanban), how they differ from one another, and when to choose each one.

Presenters:

Everything is moving to the cloud these days. Storage, software, and even Project and Portfolio Management (PPM). It is time for your PPM to migrate there, too?

There are many benefits of moving to the cloud, such as unlimited scalability, around-the-clock accessibility, and enhanced collaboration – just to name a few.

If those advantages aren’t enough, though, the cost savings alone should entice your organization. Enterprises who migrate their PPM to the cloud can realize a cost savings of up to 40-percent, which could equal hundreds of thousands of dollars over the course of a few years.

Conducting a successful migration is all about asking the right questions.

You need to consider both technical and business impacts, making critical decisions and changes during the planning phase.

You don’t want to migrate bad behaviors; a migration is the perfect time to alleviate bottlenecks, enhance functionality, and streamline processes.

Learn the value of PPM in the cloud, the questions you need to ask yourself, and how to make this the last PPM systems migration – ever!

Presenter: Rob Hirschmann, (LinkedIn profile, bio) Corporate Vice President – Projility, Inc.  As a well-known and respected leader in the Microsoft PPM communityand product innovator, Rob has helped companies around the globe develop and implement best-practice PPM strategies.
