With the COVID-19 pandemic, risk management is taken with increased interest by professionals, communities and organizations across industry verticals. Particularly within the Project-Program-Portfolio (PPP) community, risk management has been asked to be taken-up on a proactive and priority basis.

The risk management life cycle (RMLC) works within the context of risk management framework. It ensures risks are managed in a structured and integrated manner in an organization irrespective of life cycle approaches chosen.

Understanding of risk management framework across portfolios, programs and projects, is foundational to have tangible results coming from risk management.

While a project’s risk management life cycle is somewhat known and practiced, there are a number of variations when programs and/or portfolios are taken up in an organization. Many risk management practitioners miss these subtleties!

In this webinar, Satya Narayan Dash will explore:

  • What are risk management framework and risk management life cycle?
  • What will be considerations for the portfolios?
  • What will be considerations for the programs?
  • What will be considerations for the projects?
  • How to take an integrated approach?

It highlights the differences between project, programme and portfolio management and provides insight and guidance on how to successfully navigate them as a leader.

The first section focusses on the key characteristics of project management, programme management and portfolio management, drawing out the key differences which most delegates will be aware of, but may not have analysed in any detail.

The second section covers moving up the chain, looking at the key pitfalls that many people encounter, such as trying to do too much, not knowing how to delegate and focussing on the wrong level of detail.

The third section introduces techniques to assist the delegates – leveraging their existing skill sets, such as organisational skills, influencing and people management to move seamlessly between the various requirements.

Finally, we look at available tools and support in the market before summarising and moving to questions and answers.
