Rapid Change Is Now The Norm

If you can’t meet the needs driven by it you must deal with the inevitable fall of revenue as an outcome, which ultimately leads to end of existence (think Black Berry and RIM).

To combat rapid change, organizations are flattening.

Flattening drives things like self-organization, and wisdom of the crowd idea generation. Flattening speeds ideation and time to market on those ideas.

For an organization to succeed with a flattening strategy, management must evolve from a focus on process monitoring and reporting (micro-managing), to a focus on empowerment, goal setting and results communicating (coaching and mentoring). Coaching and mentoring are not natural skills, but acquired skills that need to be practiced.

In this web seminar we will look at best practices managers can follow to begin their “evolution” to the management 2.0 practice of coaching and mentoring, ultimately, leading to the ability to support a self-organized team.

You will learn:

  • The difference between coaching and mentoring
  • The first law of coaching (don’t give the answer) and how to deal with it
  • The first law of mentoring (don’t expect the person you work with to follow your advice) and how to deal with it
  • Tactics to practice to enhance your coaching skills
  • Items people want from a mentor and items they don’t want
