In 1994, global carpet tile manufacturer, Interface was inspired to rethink its purpose as a company and climb “Mount Sustainability.”

This journey, referred to as “Mission Zero” – Interface’s promise to eliminate any negative impact the company might have on the environment by 2020 – drives product design, engagement and all of the company’s global operations.

In sharing won experience, we can help others better understand what true sustainability means and how we’ve turned the concept into an everyday reality.

Our journey to Mission Zeroâ„¢ details the steps we’ve already taken and those that lie ahead, in the hopes that others will join this movement for meaningful change.

Nadine will share lessons learned from Interface’s story as well as insights for project managers who are looking to integrate principles of sustainability into their practice.

Note: You do have to be a PMI® member to register for this opportunity.

Live Webinar December 3rd, 2013 11:00 am – 12:30 pm EST
Duration: 1 Hour 30 Min Credits: 1 PDU Category A – Free PDU
Presented by: Computer Aid Inc IT Metrics & Productivity Institute (Rep 2733)

Practical experience shows us that all too often the limiting factor for producing extraordinary project outcomes isn’t team members’ technical skills – it’s how they interact.

In this webinar we’ll cover, in very pragmatic terms, common people-related team problems and ways to address them.

  • Low trust levels.
  • Groupthink.
  • Personality clashes between two individually strong, but “collaboration-challenged” players.
  • Dealing with a derailed project manager.
  • And enabling virtual teams to thrive even though thousands of miles from each other.

In this webinar we’ll provide tips and techniques for addressing the above, and other common people-related problems.

ITMPI will also cover distinctly different strategies for working with 100% IT teams, as contrasted to situations where IT members are part of a larger, cross-functional team with non-IT members.

Rapid Change Is Now The Norm

If you can’t meet the needs driven by it you must deal with the inevitable fall of revenue as an outcome, which ultimately leads to end of existence (think Black Berry and RIM).

To combat rapid change, organizations are flattening.

Flattening drives things like self-organization, and wisdom of the crowd idea generation. Flattening speeds ideation and time to market on those ideas.

For an organization to succeed with a flattening strategy, management must evolve from a focus on process monitoring and reporting (micro-managing), to a focus on empowerment, goal setting and results communicating (coaching and mentoring). Coaching and mentoring are not natural skills, but acquired skills that need to be practiced.

In this web seminar we will look at best practices managers can follow to begin their “evolution” to the management 2.0 practice of coaching and mentoring, ultimately, leading to the ability to support a self-organized team.

You will learn:

  • The difference between coaching and mentoring
  • The first law of coaching (don’t give the answer) and how to deal with it
  • The first law of mentoring (don’t expect the person you work with to follow your advice) and how to deal with it
  • Tactics to practice to enhance your coaching skills
  • Items people want from a mentor and items they don’t want

How Emotionally Intelligent Are Your Leaders?

As organizations are increasingly reliant on managers and executives who can do more with less, critical questions are being raised about what steps are necessary to develop such leaders.

The domino effect of great leadership has repercussions in an organization’s ability to attract and retain key talent, increases productivity and supports more robust talent management.

A foundation of research demonstrates that Emotional Intelligence can be a crucial differentiator between good leaders and great ones, but there are still questions about how EI impacts the bottom line.
