Live Webinar June 18th, 2014 – 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm EDT
By: The Corporate Education Group (REP 1011)
Duration: 1 Hour Credits: 1 Category A PDU – Free PDU
Course ID: MDW1302

In the late 1990’s our Project Management Office (PMO) was established to define project standards ahead of large and looming business system projects.

Within its first five years the Project Office had successes, established methodologies, and hired more project managers.

However, within ten years something changed.

The business required support for a shift from a print-centric model to an online products and services model.

This required a transformation of the Project Office from a group espousing process to a collaborative, agile, business partner.

Today, we focus on cultivating business relationships and programs, enabling IT strategy, running large projects as well as overseeing feature release cycles, and a driver of the IT demand/capacity conversation.

Join Bonnie in learning how the PMO has endured and managed to maintain its relevance in a matrix organization experiencing business transformation.

In this webinar you will learn to:

  • Describe the PMO maturity model
  • Provide concrete examples of PMO maturity and business alignment
  • Identify expanded PMO roles to include business analyst and program manager

Live Webinar June 20th, 2014 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm EDT
Duration: 1 hour webinar Credits: 1 PDU Category A – $15 USD PDU
Presented by: Solutions Cube Group (REP 2451)

This webinar is fourth in a five part series series on “Strategic Planning”  by Solutions Cube.  Although this module is a part of the series – each module in the series can be taken individually.

There are many ways for teams to achieve the Objectives and Goals of an organization.

Part of the Strategic Planning effort is determining the appropriate actions to be taken to enable the objectives to be met.. These actions should be based on conditions associated with the current environment as well as changes associated with the future environment.

Unfortunately, many teams feel the list of prioritized projects is a result of random selection and are left wondering how their projects fit into the overall corporate direction, if at all.

Planning and change management staff as well as department and team leads require appropriate tools and techniques to define Action Plans for implementing future change. They can use these tools to define plans for tactical and strategic projects which will enable the organization to successfully perform its mission and achieve its vision.

In this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the relationship between initiatives and projects
  • Develop an Action Plan establishing direction and accountability for achieving documented Goals
  • Update the Strategic Plan to reflect shifts in the organizational environment
  • Understand the use of a Communication Plan in keeping a Strategic Plan alive

Sometimes It Is Necessary To Split User Stories

The backlog of user stories needs to be managed so that, as a story gets closer to being accepted into a sprint and developed, the story becomes as granular as needed. Thus, it is sometimes necessary to split user stories.

The process of grooming and splitting user stories (when needed) is an ongoing operation across the life of any project.

In doing so, epics and larger stories are condensed into smaller pieces that can be understood and developed within the context of an individual sprint.

Stories, when they are accepted into a sprint, must meet the “rule.” The rule is that each story must deliver functionality that is potentially implementable, and it’s important to keep this rule in mind when splitting stories.

In this webinar, Tom Cagley will explain why it is sometimes necessary to split user stories and how best to split them into valuable slices of functionality.
