As the world is facing a huge gap for 25 million new project management professionals, understanding and promoting the strengths of women and those identifying as women in the profession is critical.

Recent data from PMI, presented in March of 2023, indicates that male project managers outnumber female project managers 3:1. Research has shown however that traits like empathy, listening, collaborative and servant leadership, key traits associated with female managers, enhance engagement and collaboration.

In this presentation you will learn more about the differences between men and women as managers; the benefits that women bring to projects and organizations; how to improve your boardroom influence with executive presence behaviors; and you will discover tactics that elevate your success as a female project manager.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Discuss the benefits women leaders provide to projects and organizations, motivating their teams and promoting diversity
  • Learn executive presence behaviors to improve your boardroom influence
  • Discover tactics to elevate your success as a female project manager

Activity Type: Education – Online or Digital Media 1 PDU – Free

What Can Children Teach Us about Project Management?

As surprising as it may seem, the art of raising children leverages many of the same skills as managing a project team.

Fostering the growth of a child’s mind requires the creation of a positive atmosphere comprised of love, trust and enablement. Similarly, in working with teams, we strive to create an atmosphere of open communication, collaboration and trust.

This webinar will highlight and examine 7 things you can learn from kids that apply to project management:

  1. Play group dynamics are a lot like team dynamics
    • no one should be left out
    • we should respect the will of the group
  2. To gain cooperation, timing is everything
    • never seek it on empty stomachs or after a long day
    • understanding what motivates others is the key to maintaining collaboration
  3. Learning moments need to be seized and capitalized on
    • capitalize on the sense of urgency for maximum effect
  4. How to combat peer pressure
    • being unique doesn’t mean you don’t fit in
  5. Working through conflict means learning to work it out
    • bullying hurts everyone, especially the bullier
  6. Value everyone’s talents and approach
    • not everyone learns the same or thinks the same
  7. Be consistent when applying support, rewards, corrections and routines
    • it will reduce anxiety and set a pace

Activity Type: Education – Course or Training  1 Hour  1 PDU

Consumers, investors, and policymakers are concerned about the unprecedented and volatile market, technological and societal forces, that contributes to continued uncertainty.

In response to this complex macroeconomic and societal climate, 64% of boards expect to increase their risk appetite through 2024.

In such circumstances, it is imperative that organizations have objective and consistent risk information to ensure balanced risk-taking.

In this webinar Matt Hoyles (LinkedIn profile) Gartner Sr Principal, Advisory & Elliott Long (LinkedIn profile) Gartner Sr Principal, Advisory; will look at three priorities to equip heads of enterprise risk management (ERM) with the guidance and techniques that ensure risk-informed decision making by provoking more stakeholder participation, synthesizing risk data and analyses from other functions and increasing the depth of analysis.

Discussion Topics:

  • Increase the quality and executive confidence of your risk assessment process
  • Determine the most organizational context-appropriate approaches in strategy execution for ERM involvement
  • Enhance the management of generative AI risk-opportunity tradeoffs for stakeholders

People call them handouts, leave-behinds, slide docs, downloadables, or just “documents.”

When you use PowerPoint to create something for distribution and meant to be read by a single person at any given time, it’s not really a presentation anymore—it’s a document.

And it should be designed and treated as such. You could use InDesign or Word, but PowerPoint is actually surprisingly powerful for this format when you learn a few tricks and approaches.

Microsoft PowerPoint MVP Nolan Haims will show you how to use PowerPoint as a desktop publishing tool to create effective print and PDF materials.

You will learn:

  • The characteristics of print design and layout and what can be accomplished in PowerPoint
  • How to design standalone print documents in PowerPoint at any page size
  • Multiple strategies for creating companion handouts for on-screen presentations
  • How to setup and use paragraph styles in PowerPoint (yes, it’s possible!)
