We have published THOUSANDS of Professional Development Opportunities since our launch January 1st 2011.

These articles reflect the interests of Project Managers, Business Analysts, and Agile Professionals from over 150 countries.

In the last two weeks of 2020, we are publishing some of our readers & editors favorite recorded opportunities, as a special treat for our readers!

Each of these webinars is available online!

When you read the news and talk to business colleagues, it quickly becomes clear that although we are all experiencing this pandemic, our paths vary widely.

Some enterprises see huge surges in business, while many suffer the exact opposite. The pandemic is the largest, most asymmetric crisis in our history.

We are not all uniformly going to follow a U, V, W or L curve, even if our GDP does. Gartner created the Post-Pandemic Planning Framework to help enterprises plan for the different possible pathways out of the pandemic.

In this webinar Hung LeHong, (LinkedIn profile, Gartner bio) Gartner Distinguished VP Analyst looks at how you can use the framework to find your proper post-pandemic path and become a more digital business.

Discussion Topics:

  • Why COVID-19 is the largest, most asymmetric crisis in our history
  • Prepare exits through the stages of the pandemic
  • Plan to be a more digital business as a result of the pandemic

Live Webinar November 5th, 2020 – 10:00 am to 11:00 am EST
Activity Type: Education – Course or Training  1 Hour  1 PDU
Provider:  HR.com

Amid changing times, organizations need to quickly adapt and mobilize. That’s why the topics of internal mobility, career development and succession planning have seldom been more important than they are today.

To get a handle on these critical activities, we conducted a new survey from July through September 2020 to discover how organizations are faring in these three related issues.

This webcast highlights the key findings from this study, including:

  • The degree to which organizations have formal or informal initiatives for internal mobility, succession planning and career development
  • The effectiveness of current initiatives
  • How recent events have affected employee development
  • The tools and technologies used in these three areas
  • The length of time employees typically spend in their positions before moving to new roles
  • The people who have the primary responsibility for key programs and processes
  • The specific practices and programs most associated with success in these three areas

Gavin & Mark will start by focusing on HR professionals’ current perspective on internal mobility, succession planning and career development within their organizations.

Gavin & Mark will also look at how the recent pandemic has affected the amount of time devoted to employee development.

Next, you will learn about the effective processes for managing internal mobility, succession and career development.

  1. How are they defined?
  2. Do most HR professionals view them as crucial?
  3. Do technologies really help improve the processes?

Gavin & Mark will also discuss internal mobility in greater detail. You will learn if it is easy for a skilled employee to move into a new position when there is an opening and/or learning opportunity.

You will also discover the average length of time employees typically spend in their positions before moving to new roles.

In addition, They will examine succession management in detail and what organizations do when it comes to both formal and informal succession management.

  1. Who is responsible for the process?
  2. Which methods do organizations use to identify internal candidates to fill key roles?

Finally, you will learn about career development practices and processes.

  1. Do organizations have a career development process and/or program?
  2. Are employees actively looking for more career development opportunities?

Join Mark Vickers, (LinkedIn profile) Research Coordinator and Data Wrangler at HR.com, and Gavin Morton, (LinkedIn profile) HR.com’s Head of People & Financial Operations, as they discuss the results from the survey and how they may apply to your organization.

Learn:

  1. How the issues of internal mobility, succession planning or career development have changed in recent times
  2. The extent and success of practices related to career development, internal mobility and succession management
  3. Which tools and technologies may be most beneficial to these objectives

“Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.” ~ Mike Tyson

But Tyson had a plan going into every fight.

“Sean says – I’ve burned a lot of time – and career currency – trying to create that perfect project plan, and I can tell you for a fact that those plans did not eat that first punch any better than plans created in much less time.”

  • Project planning truth #1:
    • You need a project plan ASAP. A project plan is usually the first explicit/tangible deliverable in the project management value chain and nothing sets a project down the right path like it. Note, though, I did not say that you need a PERFECT project plan.
  • Project planning truth #2:
    • There is no such thing as the perfect plan.

Projectize is a bit of a mouthful but it’s a simple concept at heart: a 4-step method for getting from concept to project blueprint in days (not weeks.)

  1. Unpack the work
  2. Create a checklist
  3. Size the work
  4. Plan the work

Presenter: Sean Hull (LinkedIn profile @shull), PMP, CSM has a 15+ year history of developing, planning and driving the delivery of business / technology evaluation, reengineering and implementation projects from cradle to done on a global scale.  Sean has an extensive track record of guiding process, systems and software transformations / implementations spans the transformation life cycle from opportunity assessment and business analysis at the strategic level to managing the implementations themselves.A native of Columbus, Ohio and holds a B.S. in International Relations from The Ohio State University – And yes, he’s a HUGE Buckeye fan.
